Design of a public library in Vitry-sur-Seine, a town just outside of Paris.

Onirique, a proposal for a public library located in Vitry-sur-Seine, a town just outside of Paris, invites the user to have a break from reality and enter a world of wonder. As you enter from the Square, a collection of curves and fluid spaces guide you along an intuitive journey between spaces. An inner courtyard, allows light and vegetation to flood the interior, and divides the exhibition center from the library. The interior spaces are organized around this central element. As you ascend the two upper floors, you become more isolated from the outdoors. Natural lateral light on the first two floors turns into zenithal light on the third floor, where the main reading area becomes an entity in itself, protected from external sounds and distractions. A rooftop terrace with a view into the courtyard offers the possibility of enjoying the outdoors in a contained and calm atmosphere.

A second building on the west side of the library offers community activities, a restaurant as well as an urban greenhouse. Its position frees up the square and acts as a sound barrier from the nearby train tracks.
